Spring 2006 Highlights

As promised —

Here comes the water

Just enjoying a little “Springtime in the Rockies” Meet Matt, Holly & Wyatt Haag Both pilots for Skywest and Newest members of the Airpark

Water, Electrical & Phones: Monday (04/17/2006) supplies for the water system starting coming in and the contractor (Jay Roberts & Sons) tapped into the existing water line at the South-end of the Park. The trenching is proceeding steadily everyday. Eddie Roberts will be coordinating with Moon Lake Electric and the local phone company UBTA.

Spring Maintenance: A schedule of maintenance items is coming together:

  • Weed control. The Airpark will be sprayed this next week to control weeds.

  • Grooming of the runway including removal of excessive dirt and debris from the winter drainage and spring winds; and reshaping the edges. We’re looking for a “street sweeper” so keep your eyes open and call if you know of a company that performs this task; otherwise, Eileen will be out there with a good ‘ole broom.

FAA: The FAA was contacted regarding the status of the airport designation and being placed on the charts. They responded that it takes 6 months to 1 year. Initial contact was September 22, 2005. Most of you will have a copy of that correspondence in your data book given to you at closing.

Runway: The runway survived the winter in great condition: no chuckholes! The dirt portion has a faint tint of green grass trying to grow. No ugly tracks or ruts. Eileen now has a thing-a-ma-jig so she can hear any pilot chatter … and if need be respond with a “Welcome to Thunder Ridge Airpark”.

Taxiway: Culverts are in under the gravel taxiways. There wasn’t a lot of traffic on the roads during winter/spring, so the taxiway is also in good shape. No major ruts or bumps. It is soft in a couple of places, but all the heavy equipment accessing the taxiway should help compact those spots.

Lot Sales: Seven lots sales so far this Spring – Plat map as of 04/29/2006 included.

Access through Bandanna:The dirt road through Bandanna going to the airpark was graded this morning (4/21/2006).

Future Plans: Improvements are still in the brainstorming phase. Mention has been made to get a portion of the common area asphalted and getting some tie-downs put in; also some discussion about a covered picnic area. We’ll update you as future plans are decided upon.

Just a thought: If any landowner is interested in getting their perc tests and/or septic fields started, Jay Roberts & Son is certified to take care of that. All necessary equipment is at the Airpark, so prices would be a little lower. If we have more than one …. lower still. If you need assistance in filling out Building Permits forms (also included in your Data Book), Eileen (435-828-8824) said she would be glad to help.

P.S. Jay and Kathy DeMille (Lot 209) have their culvert in accessing their property and a portion scraped off for further progress! Yahoo …
